Find our cakes at Outside Cafe, in Devon
We caught up with Outside. Outside is less a café and more a small, quietly humming ecosystem tucked into Devon. Part coffee, part craft, part community, part “how is all this in one place?" They've also put our bakes on the menu and never looked back. That’s not us talking; it’s them. Here’s how Outside are making it work for them.

What made you choose 'Exploding Bakery Cakes' at your cafe?
As an independent business we want to support another independent, local business. We chose the Exploding Bakery cakes as they had a reputation of being very tasty and great in terms of stock management and avoiding waste.
What do EB cakes bring to your counter?
It allows us to have a variety of cake options with vibrant colours for our customers with different dietary needs, keeping things fresh and interesting.
How do EB ethos align with your café’s values?
It is very important for us to choose suppliers whose ethos match ours. Our aim is to bring together our community and contribute to the environmental, occupational and social wellbeing. Exploding Bakery have strong environmental values (and are a member of 1% For The Planet) which work well with ours.
Do customers recognise the EB brand, and if so, how does that benefit your café’s image or credibility?
We have customers who may not have ever heard of ‘The Exploding Bakery’ before and then we have the fans who have also bought the Exploding Bakery books and know everything about Tom and Oli. As we are both Devon based, it’s always nice to have familiarity and friendship.
