Exploding Bakery Unites With Surfers Against Sewage
When we were looking to team up with a 1% For The Planet member, it was key to be working with a like-minded business.
We’ve already been working with Luker Chocolate, chipping in 1% of our sales to support their mission, like protecting an area of endangered forest in Colombia. But we wanted to step up our efforts closer to home too.
We’re a bunch who love the outdoors, especially when we can mix cake with a coastal adventure. With the recent sewage issues hitting our rivers and beaches, we knew it was time to act. So, we joined forces with another 1% FTP member ‘Surfers Against Sewage’ to shout a little louder and help clean up the coastlines we love.

So, alongside donating a chunk of our revenue to SAS, we’re rolling up our sleeves and getting stuck into beach cleans while raising awareness about the filthy sewage situation that’s taking far too long to fix. Our collective is called 'The Ocean Network'.
Volunteers in the Ocean Network, known as Ocean Activists, organise regular beach cleans, campaigns, and community events that promote sustainable practices. SAS provides tools and resources to support these activists in conducting impactful events and offers training and guidance on how to advocate effectively. The focus is on building local communities that not only engage in environmental clean-ups but also educate on sustainable lifestyle practices and support for policy change, such as stricter water quality regulations and plastic reduction laws.
Want to help out too? You can join a beach clean in your area, sign a petition to put pressure on the government, or chip in to support the cause.
Hit this link to get involved, or just order one of our cakes—because every slice helps us fight for cleaner waters.
Peace and Love,
